On average, the Sun Peaks Resort area sees highs of 28, and lows of -7 degrees Celsius. Temperatures generally start dipping below freezing in November and stay well under 0 degrees Celsius through December and January. Temperatures beginning rising in February and stay above freezing until next November. On average, Sun Peaks reaches its highest temperatures in July and gets more than 2000 hours of sunshine per year.

December and January commonly get the most snowfall with 115cm and 117cm respectively; while annually, Sun Peaks receives 559cm of snowfall. Guests should note that snow depth can appear smaller than what has actually fallen due to settlement over time. For example, a base increase of 8cm might have originally been 10cm of snowfall which had compacted after it had fallen.
Guests staying during the summer months can expect an average of roughly 30mm of rainy, per month. To put this in perspective, costal regions like the Greater Vancouver area receive upwards of 60mm of rain every month during the summertime.

The Best Time to Ski at Sun Peaks
The best time to hit the slopes at Sun Peaks is based entirely on personal preference. If you're looking for fresh powder, theoretically January would be the best time to go as it averages 117cm of fresh snow. If you're the type who enjoys skiing in the sun, you will want to ski in the late season as temperatures typically exceed 0 degrees Celsius by February. March for example marriages in an average of 150 hours of sunshine; however, keep in mind lift operations typically end in early to mid April and can sometimes close earlier depending on weather conditions.
The Best Time to Vacation in the Summer at Sun Peaks
Once again, this entirely based on personal preference. While July technically provides the highest average temperatures & hours of sunshine, some guests may prefer the slightly cooler temperatures in mid to late August. An added benefit for guests staying at any mountain resort during the summertime is that they can usually take advantage of low night rates on accommodation due to reduced demand.
